Legal Review

Expert opinion, expert testimony.

As a vascular access specialist and nurse educator, Nancy Moureau provides legal medical reviews and expert witness testimony specific to PICCs, Midlines and intravenous therapy issues. Nancy’s specialty is intravenous access and infusion services within the adult and pediatric populations. She is considered a national and international expert on PICCs, and frequently functions as an expert witness. Consultation for defense or plaintiff cases includes record review for opinions, strategies and determination of merit.

As a vascular access specialist and nurse educator, Nancy Moureau educates attorneys on the issues of a case with cause and effect, reviews medical records, assists in the development of approach strategies, creates a timeline of events, establishes supporting research and provides testimony. Because of her experience as a speaker, Nancy is comfortable testifying in front of groups, performing video depositions and providing general testimony. Legal review is approximately 10% or less of Nancy’s overall job as a clinician, educator and consultant; the remaining percentage is spread over curriculum development, speaking as a key opinion leader, consulting medical manufacturers and working as an IV/PICC Team staff nurse at Greenville Memorial Hospital approximately 24 hours/month.

Nancy has a wealth of knowledge and experience to apply to legal reviews. She has been a nurse for 35 years and has experience in neonatal, pediatric and adult intensive care areas, home care, home infusion, long-term care and as a hospital consultant. Key areas of specialization include: Midlines, PICCs, central and peripheral venous access, ultrasound, home care, pediatrics, neonates, geriatric concentrations, education, Standards of practice, intravenous training and insertion with all populations.

As a PICC expert, educator and researcher, Nancy stays up to date in all areas of intravenous access, primary complications, etiologies, preventive measures and the standards of practice. Staying current in all areas of vascular access allows Nancy to easily perform speaking, affidavit development, depositions and testifying services.
